HE'S RIGHT FOR QAC!

Lamont Wright, Sr. is a Grasonville native and one of only 12 Black Watermen Captains in the state of Maryland. He has spent time serving the community with a focus on spending and our youth. With decades driving and owning school buses, his eyes and ears have been constantly open to what happens in QAC, what's great about us, and where we can make changes. He believes that TOGETHER, we can make a brighter future for QAC!

01

SMART DEVELOPMENT

Queen Anne's County is growing fast, and too much development in the wrong places puts a strain on our roads, our schools, and our open land. Some candidates say the answer is to stop development altogether. That is not realistic, and it is not what is best for the county. Lamont believes we can do this the right way, with growth that makes sense for the people who already live here and protects what makes this county worth living in.

02

WORK HERE, LIVE HERE

Too many people who work in Queen Anne's County cannot afford to live in it. The people who keep this county running, including our own county employees, are being priced out of the community they serve every day. Lamont will work with his fellow commissioners and local legislators to make housing attainable for working families, so the people who work here can afford to live here too.

03

COLLABORATION FOR SOLVING TRAFFIC ISSUES

Every summer, traffic getting on and off the Bay Bridge brings Queen Anne's County to a crawl. This is a state issue, but the state cannot fix it without local officials at the table. Right now too many of our local leaders refuse to work together because of party lines, and that gets us nowhere. Lamont will sit down with anyone from either party, because working together is the only way we make real progress on this.

04

PROTECTING WATERMEN'S LIVELIHOOD FOR THE FUTURE

Lamont is one of only twelve Black captains on the water in Maryland, and he comes from a long line of watermen. This work has put food on the table for families across our county for generations, including his own. Today every one of these captains is over sixty, and strict licensing laws make it harder for the next generation to get started, with the heaviest burden falling on Black watermen. When this generation is gone, there may be no one left to take their place. Lamont will fight to protect this livelihood for every waterman in Queen Anne's County.
